If you were the doctor, What would you do?

Its Last day of the Year.. No dull moments for me and you and everyone here. Today will be the last day of our Hardship, everything will sure fall in place come 2016 – AMEN

Lets go straight to the Point, Read the Joke below:-

Ofego was being discharged from a Mental Hospital after doctors thought he was finally back to normal. He was put in an ambulance to be taken back home. He claimed he knew the house so he led the doctors. They took him to where he claimed he lived.

Just as they approached a certain house, two kids, dressed in uniforms came out of the house. Ofego screamed, “Those are my children going to school!”

A minute later, a woman came out of the same house and Ofego screamed, “That’s my wife, she is late for work!” This time, the doctors were convinced Ofego was ok and took him out of the ambulance but was still in chains.

Just as they were about unlocking the chains, a man came out of the house and Ofego screamed, “YES! THAT’S ME GOING TO WORK!”

The doctor fainted.. If you were the doctor, What would you do next to Ofego?

Etisalat Prize for Literature 2015 Shortlist releases

Japhet Alakam

Three finalists have been announced as the three shortlisted authors for the 2015 Etisalat Prize for Literature and sadly, no Nigerian author made the list. The authors that made the list include; Fiston Mwanza Mujila, Penny Busetto and Rehana Rossouw. The Etisalat Prize for Literature is the first pan-African Prize that is open solely to debut fiction writers from African countries. Now in its third year, it is acknowledged as the most prestigious literary prize for African fiction.

The three books, selected from the longlist of nine, are: Penny Busetto (South Africa) – The Story of Anna P, as Told by Herself (Jacana Media); Rehana Rossouw (South Africa) – What Will People Say? (Jacana Media)

The shortlist was selected by a three-member judging panel: Professor Ato Quayson, Professor of English and inaugural Director of the Centre for Diaspora Studies at the University of Toronto (Chair of Judges); Molara Wood, writer, journalist, critic and editor; and Zukiswa Wanner, author of Men of the South and London Cape Town Joburg.

Chair of judges, Professor Ato Quayson, comments: “The variety of styles and subject matter of the books on this year’s Etisalat Prize for Literature shortlist reveal the vitality of contemporary African literature. They contribute to our understanding of what it is to love, to laugh, to improvise, sometimes to despair, to know and yet be fooled by the assurance of such knowledge, to work for our ablution in the fate of another’s suffering, and ultimately to embrace life in all its bewildering complexities.”

Zukiswa Wanner adds: “This year’s Etisalat Prize for Literature shortlist showcases the varied voices emerging on the African literary scene, bringing something beautiful and unique to the reading experience.”

The shortlisted writers will be rewarded with a sponsored multi-city book tour and will also have 1,000 copies of their books purchased by Etisalat for distribution to schools, libraries and book clubs across the Continent.

NoViolet Bulawayo won the maiden edition of the Etisalat Prize for Literature with her highly celebrated debut novel, We Need New Names, while Songeziwe Mahlangu emerged winner of the 2014 Etisalat Prize for Literature competition with his novel, Penumbra

The winner of the 2015 Etisalat Prize for Literature will be announced in March and will receive £15,000, an engraved Montblanc Meisterstück pen. The Prize also includes an Etisalat sponsored fellowship at the University of East Anglia, mentored by Professor Giles Foden, author of The Last King of Scotland.

The distinguished Patrons of the Etisalat Prize are noted the acclaimed writer Ama Ata Aidoo (Ghana), Pulitzer Prize Winner Dele Olojede (Nigeria), editor, critic and 2015 Man Booker Prize Judge, Ellah Wakatama Allfrey, OBE (UK/Zimbabwe), writer and public intellectual Kole Omotoso (Nigeria), editor, writer, broadcaster, consultant and co-founder of Allison & Busby, Margaret Busby, OBE (UK/Ghana) and novelist, poet and playwright Zakes Mda (South Africa).VANGUARD

Why I grabbed Anita Joseph’s boobs in a film -Chinwetala Agu

Popular Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, often acts the role of a wicked man in movies. And his depictions are so real that many fans believe that is his real character. In this chat with Showtime Celebrity, he explains that the negative reaction of fans towards his wicked roles is what actually led him into acting comic roles. Excerpts…

You seem to have an affinity for comedies; why is that?

I wouldn’t call it affinity. Years ago, I found out that most of the scripts that were brought to me didn’t have comic relief; I was always given roles of a wicked man and I got to understand that most of my fans were not pleased with it. Some of them felt it was something real, and the consequence was that whenever I stepped out in public, I was caught in embarrassing situations. I then decided to be infusing comic relief even when I’m playing wicked characters because I’m a veteran  screen writer. In the early 80s, we were operating in NTA Enugu, which was formerly Anambra Television Channel 50, so the talent is there, and I combined it with the wicked roles they were giving me. The result is that when you are watching me play a wicked role, you will still have cause to laugh, and ease your tension. In fact, I have achieved a lot by doing that.

Can you share instances when fans reacted to you with the belief that you’re a wicked man?

They have done daring things. Some of their actions look like attacks, but with my experience as an entertainer, I will say I saw all that coming, so I was able to manage all of them very well. But one day, while I was on Onitsha ‘Head Bridge’ on my way to  Asaba, there was this traffic snarl that made us come out of the car. One fan came to hail me and slap me on the shoulder in the course of appraising my unique style of acting. Some other persons cautioned him, and he fired back by saying, ‘Don’t you know this man is my all-in-all? He makes me happy; whenever I’m not happy, I just slot in his movie, and I become happy.’ That was an embarrassing incident, but I saw it coming because that was the period I was playing evil diabolical roles. However, I also touch lives, because sometimes when we shoot movies, it’s like we’re telling some people’s life story. You know, talking about what happens in various families where wicked uncles deal with their nephews and things like that. But like I said earlier, I thank God that I have found a way of getting people to laugh at the same time they watch me play wicked roles.

Is there any role you would love to play that you’ve not had the opportunity to?

I am planning my own production outfit, and the name of my company is Chukwuwetalu Films. By the grace of God, when we take off, I’m going to be playing roles such as a true man of God, a romantic figure, and other characters that people haven’t really seen me portray. My fan clubs all over the world will then have the opportunity to see me doing well in those areas.

Some people say that Nigerian actors are not properly trained; what do you have to say about that?

We can’t do without film schools. There should be regular workshops where actors will be trained and retrained because all we have been doing mostly came from no background. But I will still commend our people because without a solid background, they have been able to prove their mettle, and I know that everything is going to improve in terms of acting when these schools start working and people go there on regular basis to get trained. It will help the industry grow better.

Recently, a picture of you grabbing the boobs of an actress, Anita Joseph, on a movie set went viral; what really happened?
They are my daughters. It was a story, and we were playing our roles. Maybe you didn’t have time to watch that movie to understand what was going on. The main character in that movie was Ini Edo who was rascally, and more of a tom-boy. If she fought with my daughters, she would defeat them, so I did everything to prepare strong grounds for them to overpower her, but it wasn’t possible. So I said since that failed, let’s look for another way to prepare them to live their lives, so that any suitor who sees them will fall in love and marry them. That way, they will be useful since they failed in fighting a common enemy. The scene that went viral was where I was dressing them up for a burial ceremony that was coming up where I expected men to see them, and to find them attractive enough to take as wives. You know women’s bust plays a very big role in attracting any man who comes as a suitor, but people who wanted sensation made the picture go viral to sell their media. If I tell you now that I help some children in the motherless baby’s home, it may not be as sensational as when they say that I raped a minor.

But how does your wife react to scenes like that?
If I have up to one million fans, my wife will be number one. The greatest joy she derives is watching me act; no matter how negative the role is, because she is the only person that knows me better than anyone else since we live together. She knows how gentle and wonderful I am. She also knows how philanthropic I am because I always love to help humanity. So when she sees me in those kinds of scenes, she knows I’m just acting. Each time I churn out a catch-phrase, byline or slogan, she laughs so hard that even the person who is one mile away will hear the sound. She doesn’t find anything I do in films embarrassing at all; the reverse is the case.

You mean she even tells you to do it better if she feels it’s not good enough?
Yes, she chips in her own advice on how to make my acting more comical. She knows I’m a very strong comic character; comedy is in my nature, and that is the first thing that makes her happy that I’m her husband. There are some husbands that always have hard countenances, and their wives fear them, but I’m not like that. As far as I’m concerned, she is my biggest fan.

Is any of your children taking after you?
My second son is comical in nature. At times, he goes out of his way to wear women’s dress to make caricature out of some ideas. Then my first son; each time I return from anywhere, he greets me with the slogan of my last movie he watched. One of my daughters is a fashion designer, and whenever she dresses herself up, she looks more attractive and fashionable than any other girl of her age. The creative nature runs in the family and I’m sure that when they all come out of school, they are going to fit into my company because it’s going to be a conglomerate by God’s grace, producing many titles,  including comedy, tragedy, and many others. I’m also going to be involved in distributing directly to houses and offices.

So you encourage them to take it serious?
Why not? Their school fees come from what I’m doing, their feeding, and everything about their welfare comes from this. They have shown the flair already; all I have to do is encourage them.
How do you intend to surmount piracy with your company?
I believe that the biggest problem in the industry is piracy. About five years ago, I went to NIPOST in course of carrying out a survey on how to make marketing work and beat piracy. I bought a book called post codes from NIPOST, and it contains all the street codes and numbers in Nigeria. After that, I went to the National Population Commission (NPC), Abuja, to get two of their books which contained records ending 2006. When I start my company, my subscribers, who will be up to 50million, will be paying into a designated account. Whenever anybody pays, the official vehicles of my company, will deliver the consignment either to the person’s house or office wherever they are in the country. The movies will not be sold on the open market, so if you see it in the open market, everybody will know it’s a pirated copy.

Prominent Indian artist & her lawyer found in a drain, naked, bound and dead

The bodies of well-known Indian artist Hema Upadhyay, 43, and her lawyer Harish Bhambhani, 65, were discovered inside cardboard boxes near a drain in Mumbai on Saturday, December 12.
The grisly discovery was reportedly made by a street cleaner who saw a leg protruding from a cardboard box in one of the city's drains. The pair are believed to have been strangled. Both victims are said to have been stripped to their underwear and their bodies had been wrapped in plastic sheets and sewn up. Mr Bhambhani had been badly beaten and his eyes were covered with tape.
Hema was estranged from her husband Chintan, also an artist, and was locked in bitter divorce proceedings with him. The Baroda-born artist had in 2013 filed a harrassment case against Chintan, alleging he painted obscene pictures of women on the walls of their matrimonial home. Bhambani represented her in the case.

One of her domestic help lodged a missing complaint with Santa Cruz police station on Saturday after she did not return home on Friday. Bhambhani's wife also filed a missing complaint with Matunga police station since he did not return home after having told them he was going to meet a client. Police questioned Mr Upadhyays's estranged husband, Chintan, her driver and domestic servants.
The Mumbai police today arrested the three persons detained earlier and booked them for murder. The fourth suspect, arrested in Varanasi yesterday, will be brought to the city soon and produced before the court and police will seek his remand.

The three suspects - Azad Rajbhar, Pradeep Rajbhar and Vijay Rajbhar were booked under IPC sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Deshmane told reporters.
They are in the business of manufacturing and selling fibre glass used by Hema and her estranged husband and artist Chintan Upadhyaya for their installations. They were produced in a local court which remanded them in police custody till December 19, Deshmane said.
Refusing to divulge further details, he said investigations were on into the case. Based on the leads provided by the three during their sustained questioning, teams of Mumbai Police have been dispatched to various locations outside Maharashtra to track down and nab the key accused, Vidyadhar Rajbhar, who used to make the material required by Hema for her work.
Meanwhile, Vijay Rajbhar's wife Saroj Rajbhar, who came to Kandivali police station along with her children, claimed before mediapersons that her husband was innocent.
"My husband is innocent. He is being falsely implicated. He was just ferrying the transport vehicle (in which the cardboard boxes stuffed with the bodies of Hema and Bhambhani were kept) and was unaware of the content in the boxes."

According to police, Vidyadhar, Sadhu and the three arrested persons allegedly killed Hema and Bhambhani on Saturday last. Police had earlier said the arrest of Vidyadhar, a resident of Shamsi Housing Society in suburban Kandivali, would shed light on whether the murder was a fallout of a financial dispute between him and Hema, or whether it was a contract killing with some other motive.
The police have sealed Vidyadhar's warehouse in Kandivali. According to police, on Saturday night, the day they were believed to have been killed, Vidyadhar had called Hema on her mobile at around 7.30 PM. A hunt was launched for Vidyadhar soon after detention of Sadhu by the UP Special Task Force in Varanasi yesterday following a request by Mumbai police. Sadhu had gone public with the claim that the two were killed under instructions from Vidyadhar.
The killings have shocked India's art community. The Vadehra Art Gallery, which represented Ms Upadhyay, said they had lost "one of the most talented Indian artist."
